I opened Tinder and went to the Spotify section. I clicked on 'Add Spotify to your profile' (again, for the umpteenth time), and TA-DAA: this time I was asked to download the Spotify app or log into my Spotify account. As soon as I had logged in to Spotify from within Tinder, all my top artists showed up! You can block artists no matter where you are in Spotify's mobile app for Android or iOS, but it's not as easy when you want to hide songs from playing. Disliking tracks is possible here and there, but not everywhere, and that's a serious problem if you keep hearing songs you hate. Before we get to where you can and can't dislike songs from particular artists, let's quickly go over how to hide. The apps are testing a new feature that lets Tinder users share music via Spotify in chats. The dating app added a green icon in the chat, which allows users to look for songs they want to share.
UPDATE: Available to all members in countries where both Tinder and Spotify are available.
Chief among those apps were Spotify, Pinterest, Tinder and Waze. Outages were reported on DownDetector.com, a website dedicated to showing when services are down and not working. Offline users can launch some of these apps. But other apps simply didn’t work. According to The Verge, the exact cause isn’t known. But early reports suggest it. The Tinder algorithm basics. A few years ago, Tinder let Fast Company reporter Austin Carr look at his “secret internal Tinder rating,” and vaguely explained to him how the system worked. I'm not allowed to pick any song I want from Spotify. Complete albums fail to show up when I search (and yes, triple-checked spelling and what-have-you), even if they show up in the Spotify client. Tinder claims I have zero top artists, so I can't pick any. I'm told to go listen to more songs and come back later.
Introducing Tinder’s newest feature: music brought to you by Spotify. Now you can broadcast your Anthem from your profile, display and preview music clips from your top artists from Spotify, and swipe to see who shares your taste in music. Welcome to a completely new sensory experience on Tinder. Get ready for some serious sound.
Tinder already suggests matches based on your swiping preferences, mutual friends and common interests, but we know we can always add more to the equation. That’s why we’ve matched with Spotify to integrate music into the swiping experience.
More Reasons to Swipe Right
All Tinder members can now play previews of other people’s top songs via Spotify, right from their Tinder profiles. What’s more, if you have your Spotify account connected, you’ll see the artists you have in common with each person. Tinder, now integrated with Spotify, not only gives you the capability to show your favorite artists and music preferences, but also to pick the Anthem that defines you, listen to clips of other people’s Anthems and maybe make a little music with someone new.
What’s your Anthem?
It’s that one single track that tells your story. That one song you can’t get out of your head. Where the lyrics of your life meet the rhythm of your soul. It may change as you change, but at any given time, you have an anthem—and the world is waiting to hear it. Spotify is giving all Tinder members the unique ability to add an Anthem to their profile.
Earbuds in. Volume up. Swipe on. Rock out.
Sharing your Anthem and turning up the volume on your match potential is simple. Here’s how it works:
- Search Spotify to find your Anthem even if you haven’t connected your Spotify account to Tinder.
- Visit your Profile Settings in Tinder to connect your Spotify account (or download Spotify from the App Store or Google Play to create a new account for free).
- Select which of your favorite Spotify artists you’d like to display on your Tinder profile.
Start swiping to see who shares your taste in music.
Just when you thought Tinder couldn’t get any cooler, we’re turning up the bass. Welcome to Tinder featuring Spotify. Let’s make some noise.
*Starting today, Tinder featuring Spotify is rolling out in all 59 markets where Spotify is available.
Several popular apps, like Spotify, Tinder and Pinterest, are currently broken on iOS devices.
The bug occurred sometime on Friday (July 10), with early analysts suggesting that Facebook is the reason, according to The Verge.
'There are widespread reports on social media of apps crashing whenever they’re launched on iPhones and iPads, and corresponding outage spikes on DownDetector.com. The apps can be launched if the device is offline, which is useful in some cases (if you have lots of music saved on Spotify, for example) but will completely break their functionality in others. Although the exact cause of the outages isn’t yet confirmed, early reports suggest the problem is caused by Facebook’s software development kit, or SDK, which many apps use to manage user logins. Users don’t have to be using Facebook to log into an app for this to affect their software, and there are no reports of the same apps crashing on Android,' the outlet reports.
No Spotify Option On Tinder
Facebook also acknowledged that it was causing issues in a statement.
“We are aware and investigating an increase in errors on the iOS SDK which is causing some apps to crash,” they said.
