And most recently, users have come across another weird bug that seems to be triggered whenever the music playback is paused on Spotify.
More specifically, simply pausing the music on Spotify sometimes causes the radio to turn on all of a sudden for absolutely no reason. While some believe this is actually the normal behavior because Spotify replaces the audio that comes from the radio, it’s not.
If anything, the radio should come back on when disconnecting Android Auto and stopping the music playback on a dedicated app, so Spotify has no reason to turn on the radio automatically when pausing the music.
Several users on reddit have confirmed the whole thing happens in their cars too.
When I pause Spotify on Android Auto, after a second the radio automatically turns on. This is a recent change, maybe in the last week or so,” one Mercedes owner explains.
Been happening since the latest update. I am beyond unhappy about it and now turn the volume way down immediately after pausing it,” someone else explains.
So is there anything you can do about it? Not really because your only option is to just lower the volume of the radio manually every time this happens.
For what it’s worth, this doesn’t seem to be a widespread bug just yet. Spotify seems to be working fine for me on a Samsung Galaxy Note9 with Android Auto 5.3. Pausing and resuming the music works just like expected, so for the time being, it’s not yet clear what triggers the issue.
Neither Google nor Spotify acknowledged the problem, so waiting is pretty much the only option for everyone impacted by the issue.
